Aminu Umar is the Founder and CEO of Sea Transport Services Nigeria Limited, the leading transporter of clean petroleum products in West Africa, which handles 25% of Nigeria’s petroleum movement.
Under Aminu’s leadership, Sea Transport has grown from a brokerage firm in 2000 to owning vessels by 2008, providing competitive maritime services. He has been instrumental in supporting Nigeria’s maritime sector, developing policies, and fostering strong industry relationships with major international and local companies.
Aminu has held significant roles, including his current position as President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping(NCS) and his past position as President of the Nigeria Ship-Owners Association.
He also serves on various international and national maritime committees and owns interests in several companies, notably Integrated Shipping Company Nigeria Limited.
He holds a BSc in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and is pursuing an MBA in Shipping and Logistics at Copenhagen Business School.
itilola holds a Master in Water Resources Engineering and currently pursuing her doctorate degree in the same field, with over 20 years’ experience in utility management. She is the Head of Transformation and Strategy for the Lagos Water Corporation and doubles as the Business Development Expert.
She played a key role in the now-defunct collaboration between USAID and Lagos State Government, which facilitated the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State and the then USAID. This partnership attracted approximately $40 million in funding to the Lagos Water Sanitation and Hygiene sector. She has been Integral to so many improvements with the Corporation. Other collaborations she has led includes the WaterAid, JICA and the French Development bank.
She had also been involved in the Engineering design of water supply and distribution systems and managed several water supply and distribution projects in the past, boosting water supply to many parts of Lagos Metropolis. She was the champion for the “Short Term Performance Improvement Program” implemented by 2ML under the world bank 2nd Urban Water Sector Reform Project, which led to turn around improvements in the corporation. Her office has since continued to sustain the project even after the departure of the consultant.
The project earned the Lagos Water Corporation the Recognition of Efforts to ensure Operational Sustainability for Africa’s Largest City Award at the Global Water Summit in Paris in April 2018. Engr. Titilola was personally recognized by the Global Water Leaders for her work when she was selected as the Next Generation Water Leader at the Global Water Summit 2019 in London. She is a Program Committee Member of IWA’s (International Water Association) World Water Congress and Exhibition. Titilola is a receipt of several international scholarships and awards.
